Effect of Raw Material Powder on Melt-Drawing Behavior of Ultrahigh-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene

چکیده
Ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) can be drawn even from the molten state owing to its high melt viscosity. Molten UHMW-PE exhibits elastic deformability, which is homogeneously transmitted within entire sample through molecular entanglements, resulting in oriented crystallization. Thus, entanglement characteristics are a dominant factor for drawability of UHMW-PE. The reactor powder will retained film prepared by melt-processing due long relaxation time chains. Therefore, this study, melt-drawing behavior different raw material powders was investigated. Three kinds commercially available with comparable MW (viscosity average 3×106) were used as material. melt-drawn at 150℃, well above melting temperature. stress-strain curves recorded during exhibited yield point, plateau stress region, and strain-hardening region all films, although level different, indicating that entangled depends on kind powder. In-situ wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) measurements revealed two crystallization mechanisms : characteristic orthorhombic via transient hexagonal derived deep direct shallow entanglements. Consequently, dominate film. obtained results promising developing industrial starting supplied

Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a polymeric material employed in critical biomedical applications. Knowledge of its mechanical behavior is essential in order to obtain accurate prediction of stresses and deformations in real components, in particular when cyclic loading is considered. In the present research the effects of alternating and pulsating cyclic strain on the mech...

In this study, the reinforcement of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with biotite was investigated. The biotite filler was mechanically activated with different dry surfactants to improve its compatibility with UHMWPE and decrease agglomeration among biotite particles. Alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride (ADBAC) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) were selected as cationi...
